The Lodge at Cloudcroft exhibits world class amenities as well as the comforts of home. Situated in the Lincoln National Forest, The Lodge has 215,000 acres of surrounding beauty. The Lodge is a historic landmark like no other. Originally built in 1899 by the Alamogordo and Sacramento Mountain Railway, the inn was a resting place for weary travelers. In 1909, a fire destroyed The Lodge but it was rebuilt by 1911 on its current site. In the 1920’s the Lodge had a bowling alley which has been since remodeled and is now the Pavilion Hall. A popular legend that dates to the 1900's involves a beautiful chamber maid with beautiful blue eyes and shocking red hair. One night she disappeared from her quarters after her lumberjack lover found her in the arms of another. Many say that Rebecca still wonders the halls of this historic hotel.
